If it is, you don't have to be a first-time homebuyer and the income limits and acquisition prices are higher!

The federal government has designated certain neighborhoods in certain counties as Targeted Ares. These neighborhoods have been identified as needing additional assistance in development. As a result, families wishing to purchase new or existing homes in those neighborhoods receive additional benefits and relaxed requirements. The result is, if you choose to purchase within a Targeted Area, you may earn more income and your new home may have a higher price than if you choose to purchase in a Non-Targeted Area.

The following counties have Targeted Areas, which are identified as Census Tracts:

            County                        Census Tract

            Alachua           2, 6, 9.01, 9.02, 15.02, 19.02

Escambia         4, 15, 17, 18, 20

Leon                5, 6, 10.01, 11.01, 12, 14, 20.01, 20.02

Marion             17, 18

St. Lucie          1, 2, 3

Wilma Go Zone Counties

Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee and St. Lucie Counties are included in the hurricane recovery’s WILMA GO ZONES; these 4 counties are now considered TARGETED AREAS – in their entirety. Non-first time homebuyers may purchase as long as they live in the property and the Targeted Area income price limits apply.

Veteran’s Exception

The first-time homebuyer requirement IS WAIVED for veterans purchasing a home under the Authority’s 2007 First-Time Homebuyer Program. (An eligible veteran is a person who has served in the active military, naval or air service and who was discharged or released therefrom under conditions other than dishonorable or as otherwise defined in 38 U.S.C. 101.) Non-First time homebuyers who qualify as an eligible veteran may purchase as long as they live in the property and meet the non-targeted area income and purchase price limits.
